I don't think there's much to explain here.
There are 4 million people watching this, and if these suggestive techniques even work on 0.01% of people, that still represents 400 people, many of whom would phone in.
Plus, he may well have pre-selected the most suggestible people to have taken part in the studio group.
That's it all. But still very well done.
